After breakfast departure to the Olympic mountain Bjelasnica by organized transport (with a short break) and continue the journey to the village Umoljani (1275 m above sea level). Borrowing equipment and starting a hiking tour over the Obalj mountain to the highest Bosnian village Lukomir.

The legend of the petrified dragon is connected to the village of Umoljani. A large snake-dragon came out of the Rakitnica canyon, which is 3km away from the village, and passed through Studeni potok, meandering with the intention of destroying the whole village and eating the villagers. When they noticed the danger, the villagers retreated to the hill of Pošijak and began to pray to God that the dragon would be petrified. God answered their prayers and in the rock one can still see the shape of that petrified monster. That is why the village was named Umoljani. Immediately above the petrified dragon is the Katun settlement on Gradina, where it stays in the summer while the cattle are grazing. This is where the stories about Umoljani end and the ascent to Mount Obalj (1896 m above sea level) slowly begins. Throughout the tour there are beautiful views of the peaks of the mountains Bjelasnica and Visocica. Then we descend to the village of Lukomir (1495 m above sea level), which has been declared a cultural landscape and a national monument of BiH.

Stone houses covered with cherry wood shingles, clean air, the smell of nature, local cuisine, dairy products, organic food, hospitality are just some of the things we can find in Lukomir, where the rule “Enjoy! Forget the speed of today’s life. Run in nature! Touch the sky and feel free.

The hiking tour is of medium intensity. The duration of this tour is about 6 hours, which depends on the pace of movement. Overnight and dinner are organized in the mountain lodge in Lukomir. Visitors should be provided with clothing and footwear, as well as additional upholstery.

Day 3Mountain tour (Visočica mountain)

After breakfast, organized transport across Dugo polje to the mountain Visocica, where the hiking tour begins. Mount Visocica forms the natural border between Bosnia and Herzegovina. On the east side, the river Ljuta is separated from Treskavica, on the south and southwest by the river Neretva from Prenja, and on the west and north by the canyon of the river Rakitnica from Bjelašnica. It is named after the many high peaks. The highest peaks are the Mosque (1967 m), Veliki Ljeljen (1963 m) and Vito (1960 m). The northern part consists of mountain pastures at an altitude of 1300 to 1400 m, and the southern lower part is overgrown with forest. Borrowing equipment and starting the tour along the hiking trail from the necropolis of stećak tombstones to the highest peak of the Mosque (1967 m above sea level). Flocks of sheep can be seen during the hike. Unlike other mountains, here summer livestock is preserved in its original form. The most delicious dairy products can be purchased in the apartments and the wide mountain soul of cattle breeders can be felt. Arrival at the top, where there is a lunch break with beautiful views of Bjelasnica, Prenj, Treskavica, the village of Lukomir and the canyon of Rakitnica. End of the tour and organized transport to Boracko Lake.

Continuation of the road to Međugorje, which is located between the hills in the southern part of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and in the last two decades has become a unique place visited by Catholic pilgrims from all over the world. The story of Our Lady that appeared to us is connected to Međugorje, and that is why every year a large number of tourists come from all over the world. After visiting Međugorje, departure to the ethno village Žitomislići and tour. Going to Kravice Falls, a natural phenomenon similar to Niagara Falls, where a water arch over 150 meters wide falls from a height of 30 meters creating a big roar and dewy rain. Lunch. Socializing and taking photos at waterfalls.

Upon return, a visit to the medieval Ottoman town of Počitelj, which is located on the left bank of the Neretva. At this place, the Bosnian King Tvrtko built a fortress in 1383, which was conquered by the Ottoman Empire in 1471, where they remained until 1878, as can be seen from numerous monuments from the Ottoman period. Arrival in the town of Blagaj, on the river Buna, a medieval town of the Hum state from which in the middle of the XV. century, today’s Herzegovina was formed. From the ruins of the old town or the Tower of Herceg Stjepan, which was built in a strategic position, on the cliffs above the source of the river Buna, there is a beautiful panorama of the Neretva valley. From the mountain house Vrutak, the marked path leads uphill to the greats of Prenje, Otiš (2093 m) and Zelena Glava (2155 m), and exits to the saddle that connects the mentioned peaks. From the saddle we climb Zelena Glava by climbing along the northern rock which is secured with cables. Wild horses can be seen during the tour. Prenj, ie the Herzegovinian Himalayas, is considered to be the most attractive mountain in BiH. The peaks of Prenja are exciting and attractive for hikers who enjoy the charms of untouched nature.

Day 6Mountain tour (Čvrsnica)

After breakfast, with the provided transport, the participants go to the starting point, the Blidinje Nature Park. Theoretical and practical preparation by our guides for the participants of the hiking trip. Čvrsnica, or as it is often called – “roof of Herzegovina”, is the highest mountain in Herzegovina, with a height of 2228 m. This trail is the most interesting and most attractive for all hikers and nature lovers in Herzegovina. Hajdučka Vrata is located in the eastern part of the Čvrsnica mountain. It is an unusual natural phenomenon of extraordinary beauty, which causes astonishment and admiration. Centuries-old atmospheric influences (winds, rains and the sun) have made a circular opening in the rock – a magic ring about 5 meters in diameter. Unfortunately, due to the continued effects of erosion, which made Hajduk Gate, this miracle of nature is disappearing more and more day by day. Therefore, in fear that he might almost collapse, the mountaineers hike him with special honor and reverence, to see this miracle. According to the legend, the stone ring, that is, the Hajduk Gate, was a place where renegade boys from this area declared themselves bandits. Once they pass through the Hajduk Gate, they vow to guard the company and be its exemplary member. They are located at 2000 meters above sea level, where the hijackers could be safe from any chases and persecutions. Easy path leads to the beautiful Crvenjak lake which is located at 1970 m above sea level. We try to immortalize the idyllic scene with many photographs. This lake is especially interesting because, as they say, it does not change its shape, nor the amount of water, nor the temperature of the water regardless of the season. In winter, the lake freezes and it is possible to skate on it.

The hiking tour is of medium intensity. The duration of this tour is about 7 hours, which depends on the pace of movement. Overnight and dinner are organized in Hostel Stećak in Konjic. Participants should provide clothing and footwear, as well as additional upholstery.

Day 7Mountain tour (Skakavac waterfall)

After breakfast, with the provided transport, the participants go to the starting point, the village of Nahorevo. Theoretical and practical preparation by our guides for the participants of the hiking trip. From the village of Nahorevo we climb the hiking trail to the top of Bukovik, from where there is a fantastic view of the city of Sarajevo. Down the forest paths to the Skakavac waterfall. Skakavac Waterfall is located north of Sarajevo, and is about 12 km from the city center. The waterfall is 98 m high. It is characterized by exceptional beauty, especially in winter when its waterfall is surrounded by ice, forming fantastic scenes. The vegetation around the waterfall itself is rich in endemic and relict species. Due to the rich vegetation and good shade provided by the coniferous forest, this tour is recommended during the summer days as a great alternative to staying in a hot city. Throughout the lecture on the diversity of flora and fauna in BiH.

The hiking tour is of medium intensity. The duration of this tour is about 6 hours, which depends on the pace of movement. Overnight and dinner are organized in Sarajevo. Participants should provide clothing and footwear, as well as additional upholstery.

Inexpensive and fun, plus great food before and after rafting. It’s relatively easy rafting, a good river to enjoy a beer or two on.
